For those of you who misunderstood the part of my backstory on The Voice regarding female singers: It was my conservative grandfather who did not allow my mother to pursue music. I know some people may have thought that I was claiming that women weren't allowed to sing in Egypt, but that was not the case. Plus, we all know about great singers from there, such as Um Kalthoom. =)
